Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log or stored copy of those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to review and answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server operations collect a limited set of technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure visits, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Analytics providers combine that traffic data so the site can be maintained and improved. A browser can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the website and maintaining reasonable performance
- Passing a submitted query to the chosen outside search provider
- Measuring which pages are useful and where improvements are needed
- Diagnosing faults, misuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect general interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material identifies official channels for Hancock County files, including the local clerk, police custodians, Kentucky State Police, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern submitted terms, results, retention, and disclosure practices. We do not direct those practices. Review the applicable provider policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links can lead to Kentucky courts, police agencies, state systems, legal resources, and outside tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Those terms should be checked before personal information is supplied.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing takes place under the provider's rules.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee complete protection, so we cannot promise that an intrusion, loss, or disclosure will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect a minor's personal information. If such information is identified, it may be requested for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights based on a visitor's circumstances. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to records held by public agencies, while KRS Chapter 17 controls important criminal-history and registry disclosures. Neither law turns this private website into a government records custodian. A visitor may still ask to:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new version becomes available on this page and carries an updated effective date.
